Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a most excellent holiday season. I spent mine being sick with a nasty cold, and of course it hit in its peak stage on Christmas Day. Today is January 9, and I am still trying to shake the cough that came with the misery.
As you can see by the dark background of this site that I was not completely unproductive during that ugly spell of health. You will also notice that the format is a lot different. It is because I redesigned the entire website. Obvious really, isn't it? If any of you are familiar with CMS (Content Management Systems), you will completely understand when I say that I switched from using Drupal to using Joomla (1.5). I did give Drupal a chance by trying to upgrade, but that application is not the smoothest palms in a row of dish washers, if you catch my drift. I ran into so many errors and issues that I finally just wiped the whole program completely off my hosting space. Thank gawd I saved all my content to a separate app first, otherwise I would have been starting completely from scratch. All the content from my old site is now on my current site, but since it is dated, I'm not going to smash it in your face. It's all under the deepest depths of Blog-o-rama if you want to make the trip down memory lane.
Now that the technical stuff is all out of the way, 2009 should be a big year for me. I am planning on attending another Photography workshop in a couple weeks, as well as a Pinup model workshop in February, and a portfolio building workshop in May. I'm very excited to be shooting again.
I'm also in the process of writing a book. I am planning a firm deadline to keep me on track, so the first half of the year should be extremely busy.
I am also planning on painting again. It has been years since I last wielded a set of brushes and palette. When I told my parents of this plan, they decided to buy me a new set of acrylics and ready-made canvases. They can be so encouraging. =)
So in a nutshell, the above mentioned are major projects slated for the upcoming year. I will be making the drive back up to Alaska sometime in late May, and I plan on sticking around for the summer. |
